Loft conversions skyrocket the value of your property

Results of new research into the cost of loft conversions across England and Wales show that expanding your house upwards could add up to £100,000 to the overall price.

The report by Alliance and Leicester Personal Loans found that the average cost of a loft conversion in a three-bedroom house in London was £25,000 but the work could increase the property's value by a stunning £146,000.

In the North West, the same home improvement would cost around £22,000 but could add a hefty £97,888 to the price tag.

A recent survey by Cornhill Direct showed that the average Briton spends £90,000 on DIY during his lifetime.
